Fire in Yosemite National Park California

Yosemite National Park in California is an amazing place, I have only managed to be lucky enough to visit there once myself. My thoughts are with the locals and fire-fighters at this time when 4,700 acres of their stunning woodland is on fire... Hopefully it will all be under control shortly.

Peter Lik has some good points here about being out and about in the wild...

New portfolio of images onto 500px

I have just added a Natural Scene portfolio onto a great photography showcase website "500px". The home of many awesome photographers... Please go to http://naturalscene.500px.com/ to check it out...

Travelling for the sunset, Nash Point, St Donats

Last night I was travelling to photograph the sunset, at Nash Point, St Donats. I had a particular shot in mind that I wanted to get I had checked the weather report and was expecting dramatic clouds. Getting closer to Nash Point I realised I was going to miss the sunset, I was disappointed so instead pulled off the main road and drove onto the Llantwit Major beach and watched the sunset without the clouds I was expecting. Even though I wasn't at the location I had set out for the view was amazing and made me find find a different location that will be perfect for a sunrise shot. The beauty of nature is it's always different and it excites me when I find a new place / viewpoint to capture beauty from.

Seascapes and Storms

The last five days I have been working on my seascape project on the Devon and Welsh coastlines. Dodging waves, wet feet, seized tripod legs and a wet camera, all part of being in the great outdoors!!! Dartmouth and Slapton are well worth the visit. I hope to get some rough edits on here soon.

NYC - TAKEN IN DOWNTOWN AT DUSK

NYC - Taken at dusk in Downtown New York - Available on Vesuvio Gallery
This image was taken in 2009 in the busy city of NYC, this is probably the busiest city I so far on my travels. So much so I struggled to find my quiet space for meditation, I found a way through this by focusing on some of the quieter places I have travelled to like Yosemite or China Beach, California. This helped me to focus my meditation on a different place in the world rather than the actual place.

A meditation guru and of great help to many is HeadSpace, very good tips on introducing a meditation practise into your everyday life. "Watch the final Headspace animation to help get your approch right to your meditation practice. " Andy Puddicombe...

Brooklyn Bridge New York - USA - Craig Howarth

Brooklyn Bridge NYC - Craig Howarth - Vesuvio Gallery
The Brooklyn Bridge, built between 1869 and 1883, connects Manhattan with New York's most populous borough, Brooklyn, at the time one of the country's largest cities. The bridge is one of the most magnificent landmarks in New York.

The first person to jump off the bridge was on May 19, 1885. His motivations for doing so included the desire to demonstrate that people did not die simply from falling through the air, thus encouraging people to be willing to jump from a burning building into a net.

I wanted to take this photograph late at night so that there wasn't many people around on the footpath, this was a 30 second exposure at 12:45am, I took many different images as there was a wind, which worried me as I thought it would create movement on my tripod. The result as a fine art print and canvas is just stunning... More "New York / American Cities" can be view at:- Vesuvio Gallery

What an inspirational video, great images on - Adam Baker

Pen y Fan, Brecon - South Wales

Pen y Fan, in the Brecon Beacons is the local stomping ground for myself, getting quite excited to shoot some images up there over the next few days. As looking at the weather report for next five days, rain next two and then sunny which makes for excellent quality in the light to get out and shoot.

Early morning sunrise Im thinking...  If you want to see more of my landscape projects they can be viewed at my personal site Natural Scene.

Do not pursue the past.
Do not lose yourself in the future.
The past no longer is.
The future has not yet come.

A Big Thanks to the Lostprophets

Just a quick message to say thanks to the Lostprophets for attending the Vesuvio Gallery launch on Monday, great to have you there guys.

Vesuvio Gallery Launch went very well

On August 15th 2011 Vesuvio Gallery had their launch party in Cardiff. Some of my work was showcased there, it was an excellent evening with great feedback and bags of positivity all the hard work over the last 6 months paid off for sure. All 10 artists work can be seen on - Vesuvio Gallery.com. Lots of interior designers, architects, bar owners and restaurant owners were present all equally impressed with the artwork that was on show, looking forward to plenty of Vesuvio Gallery Commissions in the future... Congrats...

Just can't wait for the actual physical gallery to open later this year, where there will be a new artist showing their work every 6 weeks, exciting times for Fine Art Photography and Paintings in Cardiff with a new type of Gallery...

Lake Tahoe California / Nevada

This was my first visit to Lake Tahoe, we will be going back here, outstanding beauty with such a spiritually and chilled out vibe. It was a very inspiring place for me, somewhere we you could really watch the world go by.

Do not speak- unless it improves on silence..

California State Route 167

Travelling to Lake Tahoe from Mammoth Lakes was a wonderful experience, taking too many stops to take photos was the major concern as we didn't want to arrive in Lake Tahoe too late!

The views of Mono Lake were breathtaking even the road was amazing with us being able to see at least 15 miles in a straight line... The Dodge Charger wasn't enjoying the lack of oxygen but neither were we, there is something strange about driving and working feeling tipsy from the altitude, we were at just over 8,000 feet...

My Cali-Journey project is coming together nicely with hopefully another trip planned for next year, you will be able to new images on Vesuvio soon.

Vesuvio Gallery - Jamie Oliver from the lostprophets

Exciting day in the gallery today Jamie Oliver popped into to sign some exclusive artwork, as the band he's in lostprophets were playing in the city... Very interesting prints. Some of Jamies photography artwork can be seen on Vesuvio Gallery

Bodie Ghost Town

On the way to Lake Tahoe, we made a diversion to see the amazing Bodie Ghost Town however it was closed due to road erosion... How disappointed was I this afternoon. It wasn't all a waste of a journey though as the road towards Bodie was equally unique.

Californian Timber - Kramer Junction

Californian Timber was also taken at Kramer Junction on our journey to find Bodie Ghost Town... I have edited this image to keep enough details in the shadow and then make all the highlights and colour as bright as possible so that the yellow and blues jump out from the rest of the image.

THIS CALIFORNIAN TRUCK LOOKS LIKE IT WAS LEFT HERE WITH ITS LOAD AND HAS BEEN LEFT UNTOUCHED FOR QUITE SOME TIME, ARE PEOPLE STILL AWAITING THE DELIVERY OR HAVE THEY FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE TIMBER.

Kramer junction - California - 395 Highway

Kramer Junction 2010, an amazing find. We were travelling up to Mammoth Lakes, CA, when we made an impromptu error in our directions and came across this grave yard for gas pumps and military vehicles. We ended up spending quite sometime shooting this location, which made us a late for a couple of other destinations but I hope you agree with me that it was worth it.

This is one of the images that hasn't made it into my main selection for my Kramer Junction exhibition, i still love the image though I might use it in Historical Vehicle project that I will be working on in the future.

Full Kramer Junction gallery can be viewed on Vesuvio Gallery

Seascapes returning to old project

Just about to take time away from editing and reopen a project that has been closed for sometime "seascapes"... Been to busy shooting derelict spaces my "oxygen and moisture" project some of which can be viewed on vesuvio gallery.com

Planning to spend a couple of days shooting in Devon and Cornwall to hopefully bring another group of shots to a gallery next year. Long exposures and stunning one off images, I will post some roughs here when I get onto editing them...

24 feet long peice of ARTWORK!!

You have to hand it to photgrapher Peter Lik, he knows how to display artwork... Stunning...

http://www.peterlikexposed.com/archives/3128 Be great to see all our artwork displayed like this in venues / galleries around the world.

Vesuvio gallery launch...

Late nights in the studio getting my black and white landscape prints and fine art American prints ready for the world to see. Scary stuff...

All will be able to be viewed on this blog and on www.vesuviogallery.com

Planning my next Landscape Photography Trip

I'm still working away on editing my backlog of images, however I'm still trying to plan my next adventure away to create a new set of images. Looking at travelling to the French Alps in December to hopefully get more more stunning black and white winter images. Morzine, Avoriaz to be exact, stunning area and somewhere I have yet to photograph.

Busy editing images for Vesuvio Gallery

I'm busy editing images that I have taken over the past 15 years. The editing of the images will form both an online exhbition and and actual exhibition with VesuvioGallery later this year. The image volume range from landscapes, seascapes, american travels to some very beautiful disused factories, I'm foreseeing the artwork to be used in venues and bars around the UK and hopefully more exhibitions, exciting times.
